Firebird Software

Created in 1984 as a publishing label within Telecomsoft (the software arm of British Telecom), Firebird operated from the mid-1980s out of the UK and handled both low‑cost “budget” releases and higher‑priced lines as the market evolved. Early staffing and direction involved Tony Rainbird working with Telecomsoft leadership; the division itself was founded under Ederyn Williams at British Telecom. Releases under the label included multi‑platform home‑computer ports such as Elite and The Sentinel and arcade conversions like Bubble Bobble, alongside numerous budget hits and conversions across ZX Spectrum, Commodore and later 16‑bit systems.
