Square Co., Ltd.

Square Co., Ltd., often styled Square or SquareSoft outside Japan, was a Tokyo-based video game developer and publisher founded as an independent company in September 1986 by Masafumi Miyamoto. Active from the late 1980s through the 1990s and into the early 2000s, the company employed creators such as Hironobu Sakaguchi, whose team produced Final Fantasy and its early sequels. Other titles released under the name include Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy Tactics and Treasure Hunter G; the corporate entity later merged with Enix to form Square Enix on April 1, 2003. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as PlayStation, PS Vita, PlayStation 3, PSP, SNES, Wii, Wii U, WonderSwan Color, NES, and PlayStation 2.
