Vivendi Universal Games, Inc.
Vivendi Universal Games, later operating as Vivendi Games, was an American video game publisher and holding company based in Los Angeles that operated primarily from 1996 through its merger into Activision Blizzard in 2008. Formed from CUC’s games assets after the 1996 acquisition of Davidson & Associates and Sierra, it absorbed labels and studios (Universal Interactive, Sierra, Blizzard among others) and ran regional branches in Europe and the UK. Documented senior executives include Bruce Hack as CEO during the Vivendi Games era; Ken Cron and Bob Davidson appear in leadership histories tied to the company’s predecessor businesses. Known published titles across its labels include The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Crash Tag Team Racing and several licensed Barbie and Spyro releases when distributed under the Vivendi/Vivendi Universal Games umbrella. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as Windows, Xbox, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Nintendo DS, SNES, DOS, Genesis, and Nintendo Switch.
