Founded as a Minneapolis-based value-priced games publisher, WizardWorks Group, Inc. operated through the 1990s and early 2000s as a budget-label publisher and distributor for PC and occasional console releases. The company became a GT Interactive value-products subsidiary on June 24, 1996 and later sat under Infogrames/Atari corporate ownership; Atari closed the Minneapolis studio in 2004. Known for mass-market hits such as Deer Hunter and for licensed and budget compilations, the studio frequently worked with developers including Sunstorm Interactive; recurring internal collaborators listed for releases include Peter Armstrong and Anthony Campiti.
