This batch ranges from click-heavy isometric adventures to third-person spellcasting, with several games built around controlling more than one combatant at a time.

Akuma: Demon Spawn

In Akuma’s three-hero demon hunt, Elim, Kusa, and Raening fight as a party against demons while players issue commands through mouse clicks and hotkeys. The no-pause battles and teleport-linked villages give its loot-and-quest loop a particularly frantic rhythm.

Alexander: The Heroes Hour

Alexander’s three-soldier campaign puts Megacles, Ekhedem, and Bilikidi under Alexander the Great’s command for sabotage, escort, and combat missions. Its pause-and-command option is the sensible counterpoint to crowded real-time clashes, while Arena mode focuses on monster waves and trophies.

Alien Shooter: Vengeance

In this alien mercenary campaign, eight operatives, selectable talents, and skill-point upgrades shape a top-down fight through facilities and alien nests. The campaign’s key-card objectives sit alongside Survival mode and LAN co-op or deathmatch options, so compare which character and talent pairing you would take into a long wave run.

ArcaniA: Gothic 4

this streamlined Gothic successor follows a revenge-driven hero through self-contained areas, with melee, ranged, and magic paths supported by skill trees. The guided quest chain, unlimited inventory, and one-way progression make for a cleaner ride, but the lack of factions and consequences for theft or violence removes much of the older series’ unruly character.

Asheron’s Call: Dark Majesty

Dark Majesty’s Marae Lassel expansion added player castles, the island of Marae Lassel, new creatures, buildings, and items to Asheron’s Call. Its period updates tied cooperative missions and new dungeons to the island’s unfolding story, making castle ownership a memorable counterweight to roaming and leveling.

Avencast: Rise of the Mage

Avencast’s mage academy adventure sends an amulet-bearing apprentice through the trials of three Master Wizards after a childhood spent with the woodsman Jonesch. Blood Magic, Soul Magic, and Summoning support a hands-on mix of staff fighting, ranged spells, rolls, and hotkey casting.

Beyond Divinity

In Beyond Divinity’s soul-forged duo, a paladin and a Death Knight are bound together by Samuel’s magic and must escape imprisonment across four acts. Real-time combat can be paused for commands, while Warrior, Survivor, and Wizard skills let the pair develop in sharply different directions.

Blade & Sword

Blade & Sword’s kung fu action places Diablo-like looting in a mythic Chinese conflict unleashed by Emperor Jo’s death and Grand Wizard Wen’s rift. Three heroes each have regular martial-arts strikes and mouse-gesture Super Attacks, so the combo system carries more of the show than a standard click-through brawl.

Brave Soul

Rudy’s moonlit Souvania quest follows Hunter Guild recruit Rudy and his dragon companion Shell after recurring visions lead him toward a woman resembling the Moon Goddess. Up to three AI allies can be set to offensive, defensive, or support behavior, while mature romance routes and 16-bit-styled scenes give the adventure an unusual mix of ingredients.

Darkspore

Darkspore’s buildable three-creature squad makes creature parts matter in combat by tying each modification to RPG-style stats, then asks players to choose a three-hero lineup for planet missions. Solo and co-op runs, higher-difficulty Invasion and Apocalypse modes, and squad-swapping PvP rounds all keep the focus on testing combinations rather than following a deep plot.

Which of these would you revisit for its party management: Akuma’s no-pause trio, Alexander’s tactical pause, Beyond Divinity’s soul-forged pair, or Darkspore’s custom-built squad?
