This batch of Commodore 64 action finds runs from strict arcade tests to strange science-fiction detours, with plenty of games that ask for nerve before they ask for spectacle.

’43 – One Year After

In Pacific shooter, a P-38 launches from a carrier and pushes through Japanese aircraft above Pacific islands. The left-side route map gives the climb a destination, while three lives and three defensive loops make every escape worth holding back for.

007 Car Chase

armed highway chase puts an armed car on an endless road against hostile vehicles and helicopters. Smoke screens, missiles, traffic, and collisions make it tempting to compare its road combat with the C64’s other chase games.

19 Part 1: Boot Camp

four-event boot camp divides its recruit training into an assault course, a shooting range, a jeep obstacle run, and hand-to-hand fighting. The jump meter and civilian targets make the opening events especially suited to a direct comparison with Konami’s Combat School.

1985: The Day After

In cavern recovery mission, a ship rotates and thrusts through underground passages to retrieve energy pods with a tractor beam. Limited energy turns contact with cave walls and slow hovering near a pod into the central hazards.

1994 (Ten Years After)

Orwellian platform ascent sends Smiffy upward through a computer-controlled stronghold, avoiding drones, traps, and airborne threats on the way to the Central Computer. Its maze-like corridors and hidden keys put memorisation beside the basic jump-and-duck routine.

1k-mini-bdash

tiny Boulder Dash clone keeps the familiar business of digging dirt, collecting diamonds, and surviving falling rocks inside a stated 1K footprint. With 1,024 levels claimed, the obvious question is which cave tricks still feel recognisably Boulder Dash and which ones surprise you.

3-D Man

first-person maze chase turns a pill-clearing maze chase into a corridor view, with an overhead map still showing score, lives, and remaining pills. That split between planning on the map and facing a blind corner gives the ghosts a nastier presence.

3D Lunattack

lunar hovercraft assault sends a hovercraft from DAB tank defenses into a mountain minefield and then a missile range on the way to a lunar base. Tank fire, mines, and missiles give the route a clear sequence of threats to learn.

3D Silicon Fish

silicon-fishing maze game has a silicon fisher wait for drifting material in a river maze, then fire a net before it slips past. Kryllon can appear nearby and explode shortly after, so a good catch can become a bad place to stand.

A Fi$tful of Buck$

Western bounty hunt takes a bounty hunter across desert ground toward a bank, cemetery, saloon, village, mine, and fort. Bullets are scarce outside, while ladders, platforms, cash, and hostile owners change the rhythm once a building is entered.

Which of these would you put on first: the first-person maze chase, the silicon-catching river maze, or the unforgiving P-38 sortie?

“Yes,there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.”
