Retro Replay Review
Gameplay
The first tee-off should feel comfortingly familiar rather than startlingly new. Famous Courses of the World: Vol. I is an add-on for World Class Leader Board, so its whole purpose is to extend a game you already know with more ground to play. If you have put time into that golf game, a new course is not a trivial extra; it is a fresh test of your usual judgment from shot to shot.
There are four courses in the package. Harbour Town Golf Links brings you to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, Sunningdale Golf Club moves the round to Berkshire, England, and Dorado Beach adds Puerto Rico to the itinerary. Pine Ridge Classic Golf Course, in Surry County, North Carolina, is included as the “World Class” course. That is a solid amount of course material for an expansion whose focus is squarely on replaying rounds rather than adding a different kind of game.
The limitation is equally clear: this is for someone who already enjoys World Class Leader Board’s brand of golf. A course pack cannot rescue a game whose basic rhythm leaves you cold. But if you want another reason to return after you have become comfortable with the original selection, Vol. I puts the emphasis where a good golf expansion should—on making you earn another good score on unfamiliar ground.

Graphics
The course selection at least has a welcome sense of travel: Hilton Head Island, Berkshire, Puerto Rico, and North Carolina give the rounds distinct real-world destinations instead of a stack of anonymously named extras. That range helps the package feel like a small golfing tour.

Story
There is no character drama to carry this one. Its story is the quiet, repeatable kind a golf game creates: you arrive at a new course, try to put together a respectable round, and remember the shots that spoiled it.
The named locations give that simple arc a little more personality. Playing a course associated with England after a round in Puerto Rico makes the collection feel broader than a generic set of bonus holes, even though the focus remains firmly on the scorecard.
Pine Ridge Classic also gives the set a home-course counterpart to its famous destinations. You are not being sent through a campaign with a grand finale; you are building your own sequence of rounds, bad decisions, recoveries, and the occasional clean finish.
Overall Experience
Famous Courses of the World: Vol. I is a focused, sensible expansion. It does not ask you to learn a new game or pretend that extra courses are something more complicated than extra courses. For a World Class Leader Board regular, that honesty is part of the charm.
Its payoff is measured in return visits. If you still enjoy settling in for a round and want four more settings in which to do it, the package gives you a useful reason to keep playing. If the original game has already exhausted your patience, these courses are unlikely to reverse that decision.
Think of it as a good continuation rather than a must-own standalone purchase. Golf-game devotees who finish Vol. I with room for more can also look at Famous Courses of the World: Vol. II for another entry in the course series.
