Gameplay
The next battle begins before the robot starts moving. Choosing its body and weapons gives each arena fight a different set of strengths to work around.
Inside the arena, movement matters as much as equipment. A useful shot still needs the right position before the opponent can answer it.
Tag-team battles add another way to put a robot’s parts to work. The story also gives the player an overworld to explore between matches.
Graphics
The Nintendo 64 presentation keeps the little combatants visible inside contained arenas. Their size makes the surrounding obstacles part of reading the fight rather than distant decoration.
Story
A journey through the overworld connects one robot battle to another. New opponents supply the next reason to examine the parts collected along the way.
The campaign gives that collection a practical purpose. A new piece of equipment can change what the player tries in the following match.
Winning battles and collecting the available robots, parts, and items give the adventure its continuing goals. Another victory does not have to mean retiring the equipment that made the previous one interesting.
Overall Experience
Custom Robo V2 suits players who enjoy testing a new setup against a familiar problem. Changing one part can be enough to make another attempt feel worthwhile.
The mixture of overworld travel and arena combat gives the matches room to breathe. Equipment decisions made outside a fight remain useful once the robot lands inside it.
This Japanese Nintendo 64 release is the second game in the series. Its combination of collecting, customization, and short battles makes it a distinct sequel rather than another edition of the first game.
