Forza Motorsport 3: Ultimate Collection

Forza Motorsport 3: Ultimate Collection is the version to pick when you want a huge Xbox 360 racing garage rather than a piecemeal shopping list. With 500 cars and more than 100 tracks, it turns the basic promise of building a season-ready stable into a long-running hobby.

The catch is that ownership is only the beginning: every car still has to be bought with in-game currency before it can join season play. That makes the abundance feel like a reason to keep racing, not a cheat sheet that hands you every dream machine at once.

Gameplay

The immediate hook is scale. You are not choosing from a small handful of familiar cars and moving on; Ultimate Collection puts a 500-car target in front of you, from the Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro and Jaguar D-Type to the Plymouth Cuda and Porsche 550A Spyder. That breadth gives the game a strong collector’s pull before you have even settled on a favorite kind of car.

Its most important bit of friction is also what gives the package legs. Included cars are not simply dropped into your season garage: you must purchase them with in-game currency before using them in season play. If you enjoy earning your way toward the car you actually want, that rule makes each addition feel more deliberate. If your main hope is to instantly drive every included vehicle, be ready for the long road between ownership of the collection and ownership in your career.

The track count matters just as much as the garage count. More than 100 tracks, including the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit plus Benchmark and Sidewinder, should prevent the season from feeling confined to one familiar loop. This is a racing package built for revisiting: try a different car, save toward another one, and take it to a different circuit.

Graphics

The cars are the clear stars of what you see, and this edition gives you plenty of distinct shapes to admire: classic racers such as the Jaguar D-Type sit beside modern machinery including the Audi R15 TDI, Lexus LFA, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and Koenigsegg CCX. The range is broad enough that the garage should feel more interesting than a row of near-identical road cars.

Track variety also has room to register visually, with over 100 circuits and the named Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit, Benchmark, and Sidewinder additions giving the collection more places to put its cars on display.

Story

There is a simple progression story in the way Ultimate Collection handles its cars: the full list may be included in the box, but your usable season garage grows through in-game purchases. You begin with possibility and gradually turn that possibility into a personal collection.

That makes your choices carry more weight than the huge car count first suggests. Chasing an Audi TT RS Coupe, Lancia 037 Stradale, or one of the Stig’s Garage cars gives you a concrete next target, even if another car is already waiting elsewhere in the catalog.

The Top Gear material adds a separate bit of flavor rather than changing that central arc. Stig’s Garage includes cars and a 90-minute Top Gear video compilation, so fans of the show get an extra reason to linger with the package beyond the season’s purchase-and-race rhythm.

Overall Experience

Ultimate Collection earns its name through sheer completeness. It bundles the original Forza Motorsport 3 with the released DLC to that point, adds seven exclusive cars, and includes the Stig’s Garage download token. For a racer fan arriving fresh, that is far more satisfying than starting with the base game and wondering which packs are worth tracking down.

The physical arrangement is mildly less elegant than the name suggests: DLC comes on a separate install disc, while Stig’s Garage arrives through a download token. Still, once everything is in place, the important result is a large, coherent library of cars and tracks rather than a scattered set of add-ons.

Give it a chance if you like racing games that reward commitment to a garage over time. The payoff is not merely that there is a lot here; it is that there are enough cars and circuits to keep setting yourself new goals after the first rush of browsing the roster fades. For Xbox 360 racing fans, this is the version with the most convincing reason to stay.
