Retro Replay Review
Gameplay
The first thing this pack gets right is removing the pressure to pick a single Xbox Live Arcade game. You have Outland, From Dust, and Beyond Good & Evil HD in one place, so an evening with the collection can start as simply as choosing the title that sounds right at the moment. That kind of variety is the point here, and it makes the bundle more inviting than a one-game purchase when you are in the mood to sample rather than settle.
There is no need to treat the three games as interchangeable. Each was previously released on XBLA in its own right, and the sensible way to approach this package is as three separate games sharing a box, not one long unified experience. Give each one enough time to make its own case instead of expecting the collection itself to create a common rhythm.
The frustration is equally straightforward: a compilation cannot guarantee that every included game will land for you. You may come away with one clear favorite and two titles you admire more than you return to. Still, that is a better outcome than it sounds when you are buying a three-game set; the package gives you room to discover which of these formerly digital releases deserves more of your time.
Graphics
Because this is a compilation of three separately released XBLA games, it does not offer one consistent look across the whole package. Beyond Good & Evil HD is explicitly the HD edition, while Outland and From Dust remain distinct games with their own imagery rather than parts of a single visual world.
Story
Triple Pack does not frame its three included games as chapters in one larger tale. The story interest comes from choosing among Beyond Good & Evil HD, From Dust, and Outland, each presented as its own destination.
That separation is useful. You do not need to arrive with knowledge of the other two games before starting the one that catches your eye, and there is no reason to force a particular order on the collection.
If you want a bundle with a shared cast, setting, or ongoing plot, this is not the draw. Its strength is that it gathers three individual experiences without pretending they are one narrative package.
Overall Experience
This is a clean, sensible compilation. Ubisoft gathered three Xbox Live Arcade releases for Xbox 360 and let the breadth of that lineup do the work. The payoff is not a new crossover or a redesigned anthology; it is having three established games available under one purchase.
It is easiest to recommend when at least two names on the cover already interest you. In that case, the third game becomes a welcome extra and may wind up being the surprise you spend the most time with. If your curiosity stops at one title, buying that game on its own would have been the more focused route.
For anyone who missed this corner of XBLA and wants a compact Ubisoft sampler, though, Triple Pack has a real convenience factor. It asks you to bring curiosity, then rewards it with three separate chances to find a favorite rather than one all-or-nothing bet.
