Nextendo v1.7.3, a fork of the Ryujinx Nintendo Switch emulator, introduces an integrated client for the Nextendo Network, allowing online gameplay for supported titles without manual setup. The emulation core remains unchanged from Ryujinx, focusing enhancements on networking and user experience. Key features include cloud saves for popular games, enabling saves to be stored and accessed across devices automatically. Users can restore saves or start new ones based on prompts, and Discord Server Boosters receive increased cloud storage. The update also resolves “communication errors” in Splatoon 2 by synchronizing online schedules on launch.

Nextendo v1.7.3 has been launched. Nextendo serves as a fork of the open-source Ryujinx Nintendo Switch emulator. Enhancing Ryujinx’s impressive accuracy and performance, Nextendo introduces a robust, integrated client for the Nextendo Network โ a community-driven substitute for the official online service โ enabling supported games to be played online seamlessly, without requiring manual configuration, custom host files, or SSL bypasses by users. The emulation core (CPU, GPU, audio, input, filesystem) remains identical to that of upstream Ryujinx. The enhancements in Nextendo are focused solely on the networking layer and user experience.
Nextendo Changelog:
Cloud Saves
Now, your progress is stored on your Nextendo account โ not just on this PC.
Cloud saves are available for Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Your save gets backed up to your account and can be restored on any PC you log into.
The process is automatic and runs in the background. Your save is uploaded when you exit a game, at regular intervals during gameplay, and best-effort even if the emulator crashes.
Empty-folder restore. If you launch a game without a local save, Nextendo will prompt you to download your cloud save first (Switch-style prompt) โ or you can start anew, with a clear warning that a new save will overwrite the cloud copy upon the next sync.
Download anytime. Retrieve your raw save file from your personal space on nextendo.network.
Discord Server Boosters receive 10 MB of cloud storage (5 MB otherwise).
Additional features in this build
For Splatoon 2: the online schedule (BCAT) is now force-synced at every launch, comparing your local schedule with the serverโs and automatically refreshing when discrepancies occur โ eliminating the “communication errors” faced by players on different rotations.
Improved online error messages: A denied login will no longer appear as a vague “communication error”.
Notes
Cloud saves are accessible to accounts associated with Discord and verified email addresses.
This feature requires version 1.7.3 or later โ older builds cannot push or restore cloud saves.
