Atari Corporation

Atari Corporation was formed in 1984 when businessman Jack Tramiel acquired Atari’s home computer and consumer console divisions from Warner Communications and renamed his company Atari Corporation. Operating through the 1980s and early 1990s, it produced and published software for the Atari ST family, the 7800 and the Lynx handheld, among other platforms. Jack Tramiel is identified as the company’s founder/key leader during this period. Published releases attributed to the company include several Lynx and ST-era titles such as Power Factor and Lynx Casino. The Tramiel-era firm remained distinct from the coin-op company Atari Games and later Atari-branded entities.
