id Software, Inc.

Founded in February 1991 in the Dallas/Mesquite, Texas area, id Software, Inc. emerged from a small group of developers — John Carmack, John Romero, Tom Hall and Adrian Carmack — who left the Softdisk team to form an independent studio. Throughout the 1990s the company developed and published landmark PC titles including Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM and Quake and created the technology later known as id Tech that powered multiple releases and licensed engines. Key personnel on early projects included the four founders and other long‑time staff who appear on contemporary credits. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as Windows, DOS, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, SEGA Saturn, Xbox 360, Amiga, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 3, and Xbox.
