Lucasfilm Games began inside George Lucas’s Lucasfilm as a software division in May 1982, later operating under the LucasArts name for much of its commercial life. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area (originally San Rafael, later offices in San Francisco), it developed and published original adventure and Star Wars titles from the mid-1980s through the 2000s. Key creative technologies and teams there produced SCUMM-era point-and-click adventures and multiple Star Wars game projects that appear under Lucasfilm/LucasArts attribution in contemporary game listings.
