SuperSnes9x Version 1.63.31

SuperSnes9x v1.63.31 has been released, enhancing the unofficial Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator based on Snes9x. Notable features include Kaillera support, RetroAchievements, multi-controller functionality, and various viewer options. The latest changelog highlights support for the Nintendo Super System arcade with twelve playable cartridges and system fixes, as well as improved BIOS management for Super Disc and Super Game Boy functionalities. Key updates also include enhancements for various titles like Xeno Crisis and security chip emulation for unlicensed carts. SuperSnes9x v1.63.31 has been released. It is a portable emulator for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (TM), based on Snes9x. This version is an unofficial code fork of the Snes9x project.

Nintendo Super System
Introduced Nintendo Super System arcade support: Z80 supervisor,
key chip, on-screen display, three cartridge sockets, and the front panel.
Twelve out of the thirteen dumped cartridges are operational, including HiROM and DSP-1 boards.
Identified the cartridge DIP switches for ActRaiser, The Addams Family, Lethal Weapon, and Robocop 3.
The supervisor’s reset now also silences the APU; Restart needs to be held as on the arcade cabinet, and nocash’s test program is usable as a BIOS.
The joypad watchdog is disabled by default, fixing Lethal Weapon’s issues.

Nintendo Super Disc
Added BIOS support in the BIOS Manager.
Support for disc insertion and ejection (eject resets to the home screen), with the disc’s name now shown in the window title.

Fixed the A.S.P. sortie report screen.
Re-applied A.S.P.’s mid-scanline effects, now being re-rendered at each line’s HBlank, avoiding glitches in Final Fantasy VI damage numbers.
Xeno Crisis
Added support for RP2040 cartridge emulation.
Firmware can be read from _rp2040.bin beside the ROM or within its zip, and the game’s flash saves are stored in the .srm.
Wide-SNES
The widescreen patch for Super Mario World is now applied in memory using Vitor Vilela’s (approved) hack at four widths:

Tekken2/SF EX Security Chip Emulation
The security chip on the unlicensed Tekken 2 cartridge is emulated.
Street Fighter EX now uses the same chip instead of a ROM patch.
Mickey Magic demo
Support added for the Mickey Magic demo: H/V IRQs are now taken one poll later,
WAI wakes a cycle sooner, and a window can now start and stop only once per line.
Fixed interlaced modes 0-4 fetching separate BG rows per field.
Super Game Boy
The ICD2 packet decoder complies with the hardware’s specifications. Fixes include Bonk’s Revenge / B.C. Kid 2 booting to a blank border and correcting the KCE logo in Castlevania Legends.
Super Game Boy Color is available only for SGB-enhanced carts, and a Super Game Boy without BIOS defaults to Automatic.
Game Boy
The boot-ROM handoff now perfectly matches hardware cycle for cycle.
NRx2 glitch suppression is disabled by default.
Added Game Boy Color LCD color correction, picture adjustments for Game Boy output, and a custom Game Boy (DMG) palette.
Load with Preview shows previews for SFC-Box, NSS, Super Disc, and Xeno Crisis savestates.
Fixed a hang that occurred while computing the checksum of an exactly 16MB ROM.
Other
Latch Mode 7 registers earlier (upstream).
Fixed WAI when no IRQ or NMI is pending. (upstream)
Fixed SuperFX 8-bit plotting transparency and RPIX clearing DREG prematurely. (upstream)
Loading an invalid snapshot will no longer hang the system. (upstream)
One button or axis can now be assigned to multiple actions. (upstream)
Win32 GUI
Loading a game while another is active is now instantaneous (previously saving the latest games caused slowdowns).
Added Always on Top and Lock Screen Resize options to the Video menu.
Each console retains its individual window size, and Window Size adjustments now align with the loaded content’s resolution.
Fixed a phantom menu-bar margin resulting in a black bar at certain window sizes.
Added layer toggles to the S-PPU menu.
The Color Correction dialog is now modeless, applies changes live, and has separate SNES and GBC settings.
A background color option has been added to the tilemap and Game Boy sprite viewers.
Hardware menus (Nintendo Super System, Super Disc, S-PPU, GB-PPU) only display when their corresponding hardware is loaded.
Acid Tests boot via the BIOS Manager’s boot ROMs and SGB BIOS while running modeless in the background.
Bios Manager
BIOS files are now available only from the BIOS Manager; the loaders will no longer search folders by name.
BIOS Manager status notes do not smear when the window is widened
Qt/GTK (Linux)
Introduced the S-PPU Tile, Tilemap, and Sprite Viewers, along with a GB-PPU menu featuring Game Boy viewers and layer toggles.
Added front panels, hotkeys, and configurations for the NSS and SFC-Box, along with the PowerFest ’94 / Campus Challenge ’92 session timer.
Also added the Super Disc menu and hotkeys.
Enabled Always on Top, Lock Screen Resize, the S-PPU layer menu, and a Widescreen option.
Game Boy content now maintains its shape, and new configurations default to square pixels.
Layer hotkeys 1/2/5 switch the Game Boy layers in a Game Boy session.
Missing-BIOS notifications are now displayed instead of the ROM information.
GTK
Resolved a crash occurring on SIGTERM and Ctrl-C.
Corrected an out-of-range sound driver setting that resulted in no sound output.
Updated Japanese translation (Nekokabu).
Qt
Fixed issues with quit signals being ignored during startup.
Resolved a PulseAudio abort that occurred when configuration was zeroed.
A key bound to several hotkeys will now trigger all of them.
Added a –dark command line option (BearOso).
OpenGL will repaint on resize (BearOso).
Libretro
Introduced a Game Boy Model core option, enabling any cartridge to operate on the Super Game Boy.
Added a Widescreen core option for Super Mario World.
Super Disc now supports RetroArch’s Disc Control.
Xeno Crisis can run from a zip file, with saves stored in SAVE_RAM, interchangeable with the .srm of other ports.
Missing-BIOS notifications are displayed on the frontend’s OSD.
