3Beans (2025/12/20) is a low-level emulator for the 3DS, enabling users to run the entire OS and play cartridge-based games. Despite its capabilities, it remains in early development with various issues, being entirely interpreted and software-rendered, resulting in slower performance. Future improvements may include hardware acceleration or high-level features to enhance speed. Recent updates in the changelog include the addition of GL textures and corrections to vertex handling, as well as the implementation of GL texture combining logic. The emulator is available for download.
3Beans (2025/12/20) has been released. 3Beans emulates the 3DS at a foundational level, allowing it to operate the entire OS as if on actual hardware. It is capable of booting the home menu and playing cartridge-based games, but it is still in the early stages and has numerous issues. Currently, it runs fully interpreted and software-rendered, making it portable but somewhat slow. If the project develops sufficiently, I may look into adding hardware acceleration or higher-level features to improve performance.
