This batch moves from contested colonies and insect battlefields to Athas, medieval Germany, and an Age of Exploration map full of difficult choices.

Battle Bugs

In insect battlefield tactics, pausing the action lets you rearrange an army of ants, beetles, and other bugs before the next clash. The backyard maps turn cookie crumbs, puddles, and grass into terrain worth fighting over, while the campaign keeps changing its objectives.

Blind Justice

shapeshifting identity centers on a runaway genetic experiment whose changing forms uncover fragments of earlier lives. The collision of religious mystery, government pursuit, and form-switching combat is an unusual pitch; which transformation would you want to test first?

Blood & Magic

In mana-driven fantasy battles, Basal Golems produce mana and can be transformed into more formidable forces, keeping the focus on the battlefield rather than a conventional base. Randomly placed magical items and terrain effects give its Forgotten Realms skirmishes a restless edge.

Colony Wars 2492

factory-capture robot warfare puts production facilities directly on the map, so seizing and holding factories matters as much as winning a firefight. Its robot assembly system draws from 27 parts across weapons, chassis, and special modules; would you build a fast scout first or a heavy artillery machine?

Conquest of the New World

In colonial-era empire building, an expedition begins with a ship and grows through settlement, resource management, and dealings with indigenous tribes. The drag-arrow movement system is a distinctive sight in a turn-based strategy game, especially once scouts and soldiers spread across the map.

Conquest of the New World: Deluxe Edition

the customizable colonial campaign expands the earlier game with a scenario editor, map customization, national bonuses, and additional resources. Designing coastlines, rivers, and settlements sounds like the right invitation to compare homemade maps and the nastiest starting positions.

Dark Sun: Shattered Lands

In the escape from Draj, a party of escaped gladiators crosses Athas while gathering allies against the sorcerer-king Tectuktitlay. Four-character parties, psionics, and turn-based combat on the exploration map suit a setting where a desert road can become a tactical problem.

Dark Sun: Wake of the Ravager

the siege of Tyr follows former gladiators into Tyr after its liberation, where the Lord Warrior and a rising Dragon threaten the city. Imported heroes can carry forward into a more urban adventure of rebel hideouts, city districts, undead forces, and side routes.

Darklands

medieval Germany by legend sends a four-person party through a 15th-century Holy Roman Empire shaped by folklore, local reputation, alchemy, saints, and monsters. Aging characters and permanent deaths make career choices feel harsh; which background would you risk for a first party?

Which of these DOS games best captures your preferred kind of planning: pausing an insect war, building a custom robot, guiding a colony, or surviving a turn-based RPG fight?

“Yes,there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.”
