Retro Replay Review
Gameplay
The first hour with the McLaren Racing Pack is refreshingly direct. You are not learning a new system or working through a separate layer of progression: you get behind the wheel of the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and take it onto Brands Hatch GP.
That narrow focus is both the pack’s strength and its limit. A dedicated racing car plus two circuit routes can add welcome variety when you already know GRID 2 well, especially if you like revisiting a track with a different machine rather than chasing a pile of new content.
Frustration can set in if you expect a DLC pack to reshape the base game. There is only one car and two routes here, so the novelty depends heavily on your appetite for repeat races. Buy it for a specific car-and-circuit fix, not for a major extension.
Graphics
The pack puts a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 on the track at Brands Hatch GP, with two routes through that circuit. For racing fans, that recognizable pairing is the main visual attraction: a purpose-built GT3 car running on a real-world-style Grand Prix course.
Story
This is a racing-content add-on, not a narrative detour. The McLaren and Brands Hatch routes arrive without a story hook to carry you from one race to the next.
That suits the pack’s concise purpose. You pick it up because the car and circuit interest you, not because you need another chapter around them.
As a result, there is no narrative payoff to weigh against the asking price. The payoff is simply more time racing a McLaren on two Brands Hatch GP routes.
Overall Experience
The McLaren Racing Pack is easy to judge because it makes such a modest promise. For an existing GRID 2 fan who wants the MP4-12C GT3 and more Brands Hatch GP running, it is a neat addition with no wasted premise around it.
It is also hard to recommend as a must-have on scope alone. One car and two routes make this feel like a targeted extra rather than an essential part of the game.
Give it a chance if Brands Hatch and the McLaren are enough to get you excited for more races. Otherwise, this is the kind of DLC you can comfortably skip without feeling that you have missed a major piece of GRID 2.
