Resistance Collection

Resistance Collection is a satisfying old-school box set: three complete Resistance games spread across three Blu-ray discs, with a handful of extra packs included rather than sold separately. Its immediate strength is simple convenience—you can begin with Resistance: Fall of Man and keep going through Resistance 2 and Resistance 3 without having to hunt down each release on its own.

The extras are most meaningful for anyone returning to Resistance 2 or Resistance 3. Resistance 2 includes the Aftermath Multiplayer Map Pack, Skin Bundle, and Wraith Skin, while Resistance 3 comes with the Brutality and Survival packs. This is a better purchase for somebody who wants the full PS3-era series in one package than for somebody expecting a newly rebuilt version of the games.

Gameplay

The best way into Resistance Collection is to treat it as a long weekend with a series, not a single oversized game. Start with Resistance: Fall of Man, then move naturally into Resistance 2 and Resistance 3. That order gives the collection a satisfying sense of momentum, and it makes this package more compelling than simply owning one favorite entry.

Three full base games are doing the heavy lifting here. You are not buying a short bonus disc padded with a few legacy extras; you are getting three distinct Resistance releases, each able to stand on its own. That matters because you can stop after one game if it is not clicking, or keep pushing forward if the series has its hooks in you.

The included add-ons sweeten the deal without changing what this collection fundamentally is. Resistance 2 gets its Aftermath Multiplayer Map Pack, Skin Bundle, and Wraith Skin, while Resistance 3 includes the Brutality Pack and Survival Pack. If you care about having those extras alongside the main games, this is the cleanest version of the package to own.

Graphics

You are looking at three separate PlayStation 3 games on three Blu-ray discs, rather than one unified release with a single visual style. Moving from Fall of Man to the numbered sequels means moving between the look, menus, and era-specific polish of individual games, which gives the set some of the charm of a preserved PS3 library.

Story

The story value comes from having the Resistance sequence together. Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3 are far more inviting as a connected run than as isolated purchases, especially if you have only ever played one of them.

Beginning at the first game is the sensible call. Even if you are mainly curious about the later entries, playing in order gives the collection a shape that a random pick-and-choose approach loses. The numbered progression is part of the point.

That also makes the set more welcoming to newcomers than a DLC-focused bundle would be. Everything starts with the three base games, and the extra content remains an addition instead of a barrier between you and the core series.

Overall Experience

Resistance Collection succeeds because it does not overcomplicate its pitch. It puts the complete base-game run of a major PS3 series in one box and includes several pieces of downloadable content for the latter two games. If that series has been sitting in your backlog, this is an easy way to finally give it a proper chance.

The limitation is also the reason to buy carefully: this is a compilation, not a new standalone Resistance adventure. Veterans who already own all three games and their relevant packs will find little reason to double-dip. For everyone else, the convenience and completeness are the draw.

At its best, the collection feels like a deliberate trip through a whole console-era run rather than a pile of unrelated discs. Give it a shot if you want to play Resistance from the beginning through its third entry, and especially if the included Resistance 2 and Resistance 3 add-ons matter to you.
