Gameplay
Develo Starter Kit: Assembler-hen asks for a different kind of investment than most TurboGrafx CD discs. Its centerpiece is an Assembler-language programming tool, so the real hook is creating software rather than simply consuming a finished game. If the thought of working close to the code sounds satisfying, that unusual focus gives the package a purpose far beyond its two included diversions.
Speeder is the quick, uncomplicated break from that work. It is an arcade-style racing game viewed in pseudo-3D, built for immediate forward motion rather than a long campaign of escalating systems. You can sample it right away, but its value here is as a compact playable companion to the creation tool.
Bend Bent has the clearer puzzle premise. You guide colored balls through vertical mazes and must get them safely to their destination, which gives each attempt a straightforward tension: plan the route, manage the maze, and do not let a ball go astray. Of the two games, it sounds like the one most likely to reward a few extra tries once its routing challenge starts to click.
This is not the disc to buy for a huge action compilation. Buy it if programming in Assembler on a TurboGrafx CD sounds like an adventure in itself, and treat Speeder and Bend Bent as small, useful examples and palate cleansers along the way.

Graphics
Speeder uses a pseudo-3D racing view, putting the road ahead of you rather than framing the action from above. Bend Bent shifts to vertical maze layouts filled with colored balls, and that simple arrangement keeps its puzzle objective easy to see at a glance.

Story
Story is not the reason to put this disc in your system. Develo Starter Kit: Assembler-hen is built around a programming tool and two self-contained games, not a narrative journey.
Speeder keeps its focus on arcade racing. The setup is immediate: get into the race and drive, without a larger dramatic hook competing for attention.
Bend Bent is equally direct, finding its personality in the challenge of shepherding colored balls through its mazes. Its destination is a puzzle goal, not a story destination, which suits a compact game included alongside a development kit.
Overall Experience
There is real charm in a console disc that invites you to make something. Develo Starter Kit: Assembler-hen comes from an era when the idea of authoring software on dedicated hardware carried its own thrill, and the included games make that idea feel less theoretical.
That said, this is specialized material. If you mainly want polished arcade action, Speeder and Bend Bent are too small a foundation to carry the whole package. Their job is to offer playable variety around the tool, and they are more interesting in that context than as standalone reasons to seek out the disc.
For retro programming enthusiasts, collectors interested in strange console software, or anyone who enjoys seeing a platform from the creator’s side, it is worth tracking down. Everyone else can appreciate the novelty, but will likely find the puzzle and racing samples more memorable than the demanding Assembler focus at the center.
