Goliath v0.32.12 Preview has been released. Goliath is a desktop frontend developed in C++20 and Qt 6 for Neo Geo MVS/AES and Neo Geo CD. It helps manage the game library and launches media via the Jolly Good Reference Frontend (JGRF) and the Geolith core. Note that Goliath functions solely as a frontend, with emulation handled by JGRF, JG, and Geolith.

Key Features:
Unified library for Neo Geo MVS/AES .neo files and Neo Geo CD .cue/.chd images.
Grouping of parent and variant cartridge games.
Recursive search for Neo Geo CD.
Optional local validation against MAME and Redump metadata.
An optional command.dat companion window that links to the ongoing JGRF session without requiring any alterations to JGRF.
Search functionality, persistent exact-media favorites, and ratings from 1 to 5 stars, along with sorting options by name, year, rating, and playtime, complete personal filters, visible-only Random, snapshots, and history.
Unique BIOS, video, input, and core settings for each game, independent of global changes.
BIOS verification and preparation of safe JGRF BIOS.
Management of save-data with backup, validation, restoration, deletion, and folder access.
Tracking of exact playtime, session count, and last-played status, including background monitoring after the main window is closed.
Performance benchmarks for selected games and one-time WAV exports.
Diagnostics for the frontend and JGRF, complete with controlled logging options.
SDL3 controller mapping and the discovery of audio devices asynchronously.
Twelve visually tested light and dark themes.

Changelog for Goliath:
This preview introduces an optional visual command.dat companion, enhances the
library layout, and updates the audited Windows runtime packaging.
Highlights include:
A bounded command.dat parser with UTF-8 BOM, CRLF, DOS
EOF, and support for aliases, exact-variants, clones, and parent-IDs.
An automatic command companion for launching normal tracked games, aligning with the JGRF process, unaffected by Benchmark or WAV
export sessions.
Scalable visual cues for directions, Neo Geo buttons, button groups, qualifiers, and move categories, while unknown notations remain visible as is, and Raw mode keeps the original text.
A movable transparent overlay with adjustable background opacity, switching between Visual/Raw mode, persistent control for the Command overlay, compact ROM ID strip, and geometric preservation when Keep Above changes are applied.
Added overlay search functionality: Use Ctrl+F to open it, press Enter and Shift+Enter to navigate matches, and Escape to close it.
Enhanced overlay readability with improved text contrast, accentuated sections and characters, cohesive dark arcade-button labels, compact scrollbars, and stable long-command reflow.
The Show Variants option has been relocated to the Filters menu, and redundant tooltips for Playtime and Sessions have been removed.
The library/details splitter line is hidden but retains its six-pixel drag target.
An Info-tab indicator for OpenGL ES/BGRA compatibility has been added for the exact
tested Windows JGRF and libepoxy builds.
Updated Windows CI licensing for Qt Base 6.11.2-2, separated GCC runtime
packages, and ICU 78.3-4.
Regarding command data,
Goliath does not include or download command.dat. To activate the companion, place a legally obtained catalog in:
/command.dat
The default-enabled Command overlay control affects future typical game launches. Clearing it does not close an overlay that is already open.
Renderer notes:
On the tested Windows setup, the external overlay remains consistently visible over JGRF fullscreen when using Vulkan. OpenGL Core, OpenGL ES, and OpenGL Compatibility require windowed mode to maintain continuous overlay visibility while the game is in focus. This behavior pertains to presentation rather than any limitation regarding command parsing or notation.
