MAME4droid Changelog:
What’s new in 1.38.2: Added netplay menu/Lua, fixed touch lightgun, polished full emulation area and vector graphics
Netplay
MAME’s menu and Lua plugins now function during netplay: menu combos are intercepted through a side channel and are excluded from synced input.
New option “Allow Lua plugins in netplay,” which is off by default.
Touch lightgun
Aiming is now mapped to the game screen inside the canvas to prevent drifting towards edges with artwork or the full emulation area.
Long press now operates on a true timer rather than waiting for touch events, and holding the pedal on a physical or virtual button will no longer block shots.
Video and resolution
New preference for “Full emulation area” gives MAME the entire available resolution for zooming and cropping artworks, replacing “Zoom to window”.
Native resolution is reapplied upon rotation and uses the actual drawable area, resolving issues with landscape-shaped canvas in portrait mode and black side bands.
Vectors and HDR
Introduced octagonal 8-tap bloom kernel with FBO-relative pyramid depth: round halos and consistent optical spread at any resolution or FBO scale.
Hybrid anti-fattening mask allows saturated beams to interact with artwork similarly to white ones, plus a more controlled bloom and automatic exposure on HDR screens.
What’s Changed
Updated to MAME 0.289 with improvements for Sega Model 1: graphical fixes, improved collision detection for Virtua Fighter, and DSP patches correcting Wing War. Audio & Core Stability: Fixes have been implemented for games using the SCSP sound chip along with significant bug fixes for the prevalent PowerPC and 68k CPU families, benefiting a wide array of emulated systems. New Additions: The unconventional arcade title Flash Beats from Sega is now playable, alongside new NES-like plug-and-play systems (Lexibook). Expanded Hardware: Support for NS32000 family CPUs and various fixes for the NEC PC-6001 family. (For a complete list of changes, check the official MAME website.)
