The primary objective was to accurately mimic the NES hardware quirks; although it has lagged behind in the past, the latest versions have managed to catch up and can replicate specific behaviors that many other emulators ignore. However, achieving such precision in emulation demands a CPU of around 1500MHz (or higher) for optimal performance.
Supported file formats include . NES, UNIF, FDS (fwNES format), and NSF. Mappers utilize external DLLs, allowing for extra sound channels for most compatible games. Additional features consist of writing to FDS images (by saving differences in the SRAM folder), limited Game Genie support (up to 3 codes), customizable controllers (including support for 4 players), input movie recording and playback (with re-recording capabilities), AVI capturing, and an integrated debugger.
