Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC
Founded as the North American branch of Sony’s PlayStation organization in the mid‑1990s, the company operated from the San Francisco Bay area (Foster City / San Mateo) as the regional publisher and distributor for PlayStation platforms. It began as a division of Sony Electronic Publishing and was reconstituted as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment; later leadership included executives such as Jack Tretton and Shawn Layden.
