Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Gold Edition

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Gold Edition

Gold Edition is the straightforward all-in package for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations: the main game arrives alongside all three of its available DLC releases. That matters more than fancy edition branding; you can start with the core adventure and have the extra character, map, and archive content ready when you want it.

The catch is that this particular Gold Edition is the Windows release. Console collectors should watch the names carefully: Ottoman Edition was the physical equivalent on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while the PlayStation 3 digital package was called Ultimate Edition. As a complete Windows purchase, though, this is the clean version to own.

Gameplay

Gold Edition begins with the full Assassin’s Creed: Revelations experience, then removes the usual question of whether the add-ons are worth picking up later. You have the base game, The Ancestors Character Pack, Mediterranean Traveler Map Pack, and The Lost Archive in one purchase. For someone who already knows they want the complete Revelations set, that simple convenience is the strongest reason to choose it.

The content is split in a sensible way. The Ancestors Character Pack and Mediterranean Traveler Map Pack are clearly the multiplayer-facing additions, so they will mean the most if you intend to spend time beyond the main game. If you only care about the single-player portion, they are extras rather than a reason to buy the package on their own.

The Lost Archive is the more immediately interesting inclusion for a solo player because it is separate downloadable content rather than a character or map pack. Still, Gold Edition works best as a completeness purchase, not as a radically different version of Revelations. Buy it because you want the whole set in one place, not because the DLC changes the identity of the main game.

Graphics

This edition is built around the same main game rather than a separately remade release, so the core look belongs to Revelations itself. The added map and character packs expand the package’s multiplayer material, but they do not turn Gold Edition into a distinct visual overhaul.

Story

The main narrative remains the center of gravity here. Gold Edition does not replace it with an alternate campaign or recut version; it collects the base release and its add-ons under one banner.

The Lost Archive is the story-oriented DLC in the bundle, giving the package a more meaningful single-player extra than the multiplayer packs alone would offer. That makes the edition easier to recommend to anyone who wants more than competitive maps and additional characters.

Go in with the right expectation: the core game’s story is still the reason to play, while the included archive content is a companion piece. The collection’s value comes from having both available without needing to assemble the release piecemeal.

Overall Experience

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Gold Edition is a practical, complete purchase rather than a bold new edition. Its best moment comes before you even begin: there is no DLC checklist hanging over the base game, no need to decide later whether to track down the remaining packs, and no uncertainty about which bundle contains what.

That clarity is especially useful because the naming is needlessly tangled across platforms. Gold Edition is Windows-only; Ottoman Edition covers the physical console package on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; and PlayStation 3’s digital equivalent carries the Ultimate Edition name. Make sure you are buying the label that matches your platform.

If Revelations is already on your list, this is the version to favor on Windows. Multiplayer-minded fans get the character and map material, solo-focused fans get The Lost Archive alongside the main game, and completionists avoid leaving any of the available DLC behind. It is less a fresh recommendation than the most convenient way to commit to the game fully.
