Simple Launcher v5.6.1, an emulator frontend for retro games, features notable updates including a secondary server fallback for update checks, ensuring full update support even if GitHub is unreachable. The updater now retries downloads from this fallback if the primary source fails. Additionally, right-clicking a game in list view successfully launches it with the selected emulator. A new language launch argument allows for starting Simple Launcher in a specific language, defaulting to English for unsupported codes. Localization issues for Spanish and Turkish resources have been fixed, and the updater UI has been refreshed for a cleaner appearance.

Simple Launcher v5.6.1 has been released. Simple Launcher serves as an emulator frontend, simplifying the experience of playing retro games.
Simple Launcher Changelog:
Update Check Fallback (Secondary Server)
Now, if the GitHub API is unavailable (due to being offline, rate-limited, or blocked), the update check defaults to a secondary server (assets.purelogiccode.com) using its version.txt file and hosted release packages.
Full update support on fallback â The fallback method properly resolves both the release package and the updater package, ensuring that the update window and automatic updates operate just as they would when GitHub is available.
Updater download fallback â If the release download from the primary source encounters an issue, the Updater will automatically try the secondary server (the progress bar resets between attempts).
Launch Fixes
List-view right-click “Launch Game” â Right-clicking a game in the list view and selecting “Launch Game” will now use the emulator chosen in the UI (defaulting to the system’s first configured emulator if necessary). Previously, this action resulted in an error stating “SelectedEmulatorName is null or empty”.
Language Launch Argument
–language startup argument â You can now launch SimpleLauncher with a specified language, for instance, SimpleLauncher.exe –language es. Supported codes are loaded at startup; unsupported codes will default to English without causing an error.
Localization Fixes
Spanish & Turkish resources â strings.es.xaml and strings.tr.xaml have been embedded as pack resources and are now loading correctly (bugs 64899-64904).
Updater UI
White log text and progress bar â The Updater window will now feature white log text and a white progress bar foreground for a more polished appearance.
