Mattel Electronics

Mattel Electronics was the electronic-game division of toy maker Mattel that operated around the late 1970s and early 1980s to design and publish home and handheld video games. Based in the United States, it launched the Intellivision home console (1979) and earlier handheld LED titles such as Auto Race and Electronic Football, and released branded cartridges including sports and licensed properties. Engineering and programming teams inside the division — including developers such as Mark Lesser — produced many of the system’s games and peripherals during Mattel Electronics’ original run.
