Snes9xrd v0.2, a personal fork of Snes9x 1.63 by DeAtSoUl56, has been released. This version closely follows the upstream master while enhancing the Qt front-end and fixing bugs. Key improvements include an overhauled Qt front-end with better settings parity, an interactive controller binding widget that accurately highlights pressed buttons, and significant binding fixes. The simplified main window omits the sidebar for a cleaner layout. New features include Super Scope support with configurable bindings, genuine Auto Fire functionality, and mouse binding support. Various improvements, like a fixed MultiCart dialog and code quality enhancements, are also included.

Snes9xrd v0.2 has been released. This version of snes9xrd is a personal fork of Snes9x 1.63, maintained by DeAtSoUl56. It closely follows upstream master—there’s no separate feature branch—but it rebuilds the Qt front-end and corrects bugs encountered during development. The rest (emulation core and GTK/win32/macOS/libretro front-ends) remains as original Snes9x.
What’s new compared to upstream:
Overhauled Qt front-end: The Display, Sound, Emulation, and Controllers settings now match the legacy win32 dialogs in functionality (stretch/transparency/shader parameters, frame skipping, software filters, per-channel volume/mute, etc.).
Enhanced controller binding widget: The on-screen SNES controller image now highlights the exact button that is bound and pressed—no more pre-lit buttons or incorrect highlights—with a background that aligns with the settings theme.
Improved binding accuracy: Axis and hat bindings are clearly differentiated and now persist through save/load operations; joystick button highlighting corresponds to the same raw button index used for bindings.
Streamlined main window: The sidebar introduced early on has been removed in favor of a top menu bar; the Help → About dialog has been reinstated with the fork’s credits.
Snes9xrd Changelog:
Qt frontend
Super Scope support: introduces a new binding interface in the Controllers panel (Fire, Pause, Auto Fire, Cursor, Aim Offscreen), fully configurable just like the SNES controller and mouse views—Fire defaults to Left Click.
Real Auto Fire: The Auto Fire for the Super Scope features an actual frame-synced turbo implemented in the shared core (S9xControlEOF), mirroring the Joypad Turbo A/B and follows the same turbo speed settings.
Mouse binding support: configurable Click L/R interface in the Controllers panel; physical mouse clicks can be captured/assigned like keyboard or joystick inputs, instead of being hardwired.
Corrected the controller diagram’s position/size shifting when toggling between Controller, Mouse, and Super Scope binding views.
The binding “Set” combo now automatically jumps to the correct port slot when switching to Mouse or Super Scope modes.
Added a per-row clear (“-“) button in the Controllers panel, instead of only a global clear-all option.
MultiCart dialog: includes a BIOS status row, remembers Slot A/B paths across sessions, and corrects an issue where OK did not actually start the game.
Resolved a BIOS folder resolution bug that might return an empty path.
Code quality enhancements (casts, signed/unsigned comparisons, dead code removal, shared connect-lambda helpers).
