Visual Boy Advance GX v3.0.1 has been released, an emulator for Game Boy systems on Wii and GameCube, based on VBA-M. Key features include support for various controllers, SRAM saving, patch support, and custom configurations. The update introduces a new dynamic recompilation (JIT) core, enhancing performance for GBA games. It replaces the old ROM paging system, allowing seamless data streaming, and improves memory management. Audio quality has been enhanced with direct 48kHz output, while dynamic audio rate control minimizes playback issues. Additionally, improvements to frame pacing and a new FPS display option have been included. Download links are available for both platforms.

* Turbo speed, video zooming, widescreen, and unfiltered video options
Changelog for Visual Boy Advance GX/Wii:
A completely new Dynamic Recompilation (JIT) core has been implemented for GBA games on both the Wii and GameCube, built from scratch. This addition is entirely new, allowing real GBA titles to run at full speed, far surpassing the capabilities of the previous interpreter core. Activate it through Settings > Emulation
The old ROM paging system on GameCube has been replaced with a new ARAM/SD hybrid virtual memory paging system – ROM data now streams seamlessly from SD into ARAM and MEM1 as needed, enabling JIT functionality (since it no longer needs to know the location of backing data)
Memory management has been overhauled for both the Wii and GameCube, freeing up more than 8MB for a JIT Cache, while still supporting 32MB ROMs
Cheat code support has been added for both GBA and GB/GBC games, utilizing the Libretro .cht file format
GB/GBA audio has been enhanced to be cleaner and more faithful to the original hardware, now generated natively at 48kHz – no longer upsampled from 44100Hz (GBA) and 22050Hz (GB)
Audio samples are written directly to the output buffer with no intermediate mixing buffer, thus minimizing audio latency
Dynamic audio rate control ensures playback speed aligns accurately with real GBA hardware timing, with stronger adjustments made only as necessary to prevent dropouts – resulting in fewer noticeable pitch shifts during gameplay
Buffer underruns (when audio temporarily runs out) now result in smooth fading to silence and back, rather than a harsh click, and startup/resume is prepped to avoid initial stutter
Frameskip and frame pacing have been refined for better video timing and consistency, especially when the JIT core operates above 60fps, with skipped frames more evenly spaced instead of clumped together
An FPS display option has been added.
