In case you missed it: Amiga simulations from merchant fleets to flight decks
This batch of Amiga simulations ranges from slow-burn planning games to hands-on cockpit and command-room routines, with plenty of room for arguments over how much procedure is just right.
1869
In merchant shipping routes, buying cargo, hiring crews, and scheduling voyages are tied to changing port prices, wages, fees, and the risk of bankruptcy. Random weather, pirate threats, and special contracts give each sea crossing a reason to disrupt an otherwise tidy trade plan.
1990: Die 1993’er Edition
the 1993 edition retains the underlying simulation and interface of 1990 while replacing much of the drawn imagery with digitized photographs and adding in-game music. It is a version for players who want the original structure intact, so put its photographic presentation beside the earlier release and decide which look suits the game better.
500cc Motomanager
With a 500cc racing team, the pre-race work starts with a four-million-dollar budget, 20 riders rated in four attributes, and 14 motorcycles rated for performance and handling traits. Single Track, Championship, and alternating two-player sessions combine rider and machine choices with lap driving, race updates, and repair decisions.
688 Attack Sub
In Cold War submarine stations, ten missions let a commander handle sonar, weapons, navigation, helm, radio, and periscope duties aboard American or Soviet attack submarines. Crew delegation is available when plotting contacts and torpedo solutions becomes too much at once, but the tension remains in identifying and stalking targets.
A Question of Sport
the BBC sports quiz format sets two teams of three against one another across six rounds, including the picture board, What Happened Next?, and a quickfire buzzer finish. Five interchangeable question blocks are on hand, so compare how long your group can keep the competition lively before familiar questions start returning.
A-10 Tank Killer
In the A-10’s tank-hunting sorties, missions center on enemy armor, bridges, roadways, and other ground targets, with automated landing and accelerated time cutting down the quieter stretches. The version 1.5 material adds seven Operation Desert Storm scenarios, while campaign results can carry unfinished targets into later missions.
A-Train
a growing rail network links passenger timetables with freight deliveries, construction, and company-owned businesses as settlements develop around stations. Stock-market dealings, seasonal changes, and maps with different layouts make a tempting case for comparing whether rail income or property development becomes your first priority.
A.G.E.
A.G.E.’s starship cockpit follows Galactic Empire with free-roaming travel through star systems, trading and conversations alongside dogfights and ship power management. Its Conquer the Universe thread involves faction dealings and mission choices, so it is one to compare with other Amiga space sims that favor open-ended flying.
A320 Airbus Vol. 2
European A320 procedures concentrates on entering navigation coordinates, planning fuel reserves, and accounting for weather before departure, with 29 airports and 200 radio beacons across Italy, Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. Duty mode grades a rookie pilot’s landings and fuel use on the way toward chief pilot status, while training mode lets you set the weather yourself.
A320 Airbus: Edition Europa
Western European A320 routes covers roughly 80 airports and puts route planning, onboard-map navigation, scheduled flights, and training exercises at the center of the experience. Takeoffs, approaches, and diversions demand attention even when the autopilot handles part of the cruise, making it a natural counterpart to Vol. 2’s expanded regional map.
Which of these would you rather spend an evening mastering: 688 Attack Sub’s sonar plot, 1869’s trade ledger, or an A320 approach with fuel reserves on the line?
“Yes,there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.”
