HAL Laboratory, Inc.
Founded on February 21, 1980, in Kanda (Chiyoda), Tokyo, HAL Laboratory, Inc. began as a small Tokyo developer and hardware experimenter under founder Mitsuhiro Ikeda. During the 1980s and 1990s the studio worked closely with Nintendo; Satoru Iwata was an early staff member who later served in leadership roles. HAL developed the Eggerland series and later became the principal developer of Kirby and the Mother series, shifting from peripherals and utilities into mainstream console game development over its first two decades. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as NES, MSX, Arcade, SNES, Atari 2600, Apple II, Atari 8-bit, Atari ST, Game Boy, and Nintendo 3DS.
