Softdisk Publishing

Softdisk Publishing was the software- and disk-magazine arm of Softdisk, a Shreveport, Louisiana company founded in September 1981 by Jim Mangham with partners including Al Vekovius and Judi Mangham. Operating mainly through the 1980s and 1990s, the publisher distributed monthly disk magazines for platforms such as the Apple II, Commodore 64 and IBM PC and paid outside authors and programmers for submissions. Titles associated with its publishing activity include Paragon and several early Catacomb releases; the company also hosted contributors who later formed id Software while working on projects there.
