Co-created nullDC and carried its work into Reicast.

In the emulation story
Known in the early nullDC scene as drk||Raziel, skmp developed the emulator with ZeZu, later known as ZNullptr. His project page records the first public beta on April 1, 2007. Reicast carried the work toward more platforms. His later writing discusses the projects’ source releases and community disputes; those accounts remain attributed to their author. Project record.
A download on April Fools’ Day
The timing made nullDC’s first public beta easy to doubt. Yet the release notice led to actual software, and Sega’s games gave users a way to judge the work. The April 2007 announcement put the team’s names beside the download.
When the project becomes a community
Reicast carried that line toward more platforms. The work also produced disagreement. In his September 2025 retrospective, skmp apologized to flyinghead for the spillover of his 2019 dispute with Libretro. It is a personal account written years afterward. Flycast’s continuing development is a separate achievement by its maintainers, even where its code inherits Reicast’s work.
